It may come as no surprise, but job security for senior marketing leaders is under threat, according to the latest reporting from our 2025 Career & Salary Survey.
A quarter of the more than 3,500 respondents have seen senior marketing leaders, such as CMOs, cut from the team and not replaced. The main reason why? To save on wages.
Others have seen new hires made, but not like-for-like replacements, while some respondents admit disappearing senior personnel is down to a lack of succession planning.
