Co-op’s top marketer on why being an ‘oversimplifier’ is his ‘superpower’ in the boardroom

Co-op’s chief membership and customer officer Kenyatte Nelson says “simplicity” of communication helps him better connect with those at the top of the business to drive the importance of its membership scheme.

Co-op’s head marketer believes the best way to build “phenomenal” relationships with the C-suite is to deliver results and have “clarity of communication”.

“If I have a superpower, it’s that I’m an oversimplifier,” Co-op’s chief membership and customer officer Kenyatte Nelson told the audience at Marketing Week’s Festival of Marketing yesterday (3 October).

Nelson believes that clarity and “simplicity” of communication help him better connect with those at the top of the business, and his ability to take complex topics and make them “super simple” has helped him get people “on-side”.
