Where have all the CMOs gone? Nearly a quarter of marketers have seen the CMO or other senior marketing roles vanish from their business, according to our latest Career & Salary Survey data. That’s a huge number of senior leaders leaving and not being replaced.

There is no one reason behind this culling of senior marketers, but sadly when times are tough, marketing is often seen as an expense businesses can cut, with the emphasis shifting to short-term wins over longer-term plays that take time and investment – as misguided as that may be.
