The Marketing Society’s ‘Sprintathon’ celebrates 10 years with £1m target in sight
This year’s Sprintathon charity event will take total fundraising above the £1m mark.
The Marketing Society’s annual Sprintathon is returning in May, celebrating its 10th year fundraising for Stand Up To Cancer.
Having started in 2016, it is expected the total fundraising figure will exceed £1m this year. All raised funds will be split between Stand Up To Cancer, which is part of Cancer Research UK, and The Marketing Society, where the money will be used to support future marketing talent.
The event this year will take place on 22 May in Battersea Park and is set to be bigger and better than ever. Brands including Boots, L&G, HSBC, Allwyn, Mondelez, Diageo and Merlin Entertainments have already signed up. Brands, agencies and platform/media owners are all invited to put a team forward for the two-hour event, where teams of four will each complete a relay of 400m (100m per person) back-to-back until they collectively cover 42.2km, the distance of a marathon.

Mark Evans, non-executive director at The Marketing Society, says: “I would like to say a massive thank you to the many thousands of people who have participated since 2016. Cancer has affected so many lives and it’s brilliant to see how passionate people in our industry are to give back in this way,” he says.
Last year, the event was attended by 105 brands, agencies and media owners including Britvic, Just Eat, Camelot, Channel 4, TUI, Direct Line Group, ITV and Google.
The cost to enter a team of four runners is £1,000 + VAT, with no special running ability required to take part.
Organisations can sign up via the Marketing Society website.
