The Marketing Week Podcast: Award-winning marketing and PwC’s CMO on career resilience

In this episode, we interview our Marketer of the Year Antonia Wade, and discuss why M&S is the worthy winner of Brand of the Year.

In this episode of The Marketing Week Podcast, hosts Charlotte Rogers and Molly Innes are joined by editor-in-chief Russell Parsons to get the inside scoop on 2024’s Marketing Week Awards.

Russell caught up with our Marketer of the Year, PwC’s global CMO Antonia Wade, to find out the secrets to her success. It’s the first time a B2B marketer has taken home this accolade, and she spoke to Russell about why she loves the challenge of working in B2B, as well as the role career resilience has played in her marketing journey.

“We’ve moved from the days of, as I call them, golf days and goody bags, to really being seen as a lever for growth and revenue and pipeline for some of the world’s biggest companies,” she said.

“And so I’ve learned a lot through doing that, and I’ve had my fair share of having my budget slashed on a monthly basis, dealing with very challenging stakeholders, for example within sales, within product. But I’ve also seen this kind of rebirth, if you will, of what marketing can do for businesses.”

We also cover some of the other big winners, including our Brand of the Year M&S and its dramatic turnaround, and Grand Prix winner Warner Bros. Discovery’s Barbie campaign.
